Daisy Parker

I enjoy the responsibility that I am given to deal with my own matters and communicate and build relationships with clients. The amount of client contact and opportunity to take ownership on matters that I have had over the last three years has been great. It is something that I didn’t think an apprentice would be trusted with, however I was obviously very wrong!

The main reasons I chose Winston Taylor were its approach to training and its strong reputation in technology transactions. The firm’s approach fits particularly well with how I learn, as it gives trainees real responsibility while also providing support through ongoing training and learning programs.

The training contract at Winston Taylor is structured so that you work closely under a supervisor. I am mainly assigned tasks from my supervisor and a partner in the team. There is also a wonderful sense of community in the wider team, with ad hoc tasks and opportunities arising organically, which keeps every day interesting and varied.

I am currently sitting in the Disputes & Investigations Team, so my workload varies across commercial litigation, international arbitration, and regulatory investigations. No two days are truly the same, but I might be drafting application documents to assist in pushing through an urgent court application; conducting legal research to answer queries from a client in relation to a regulatory investigation; reviewing evidence to assist in preparation for a mediation; attending counsel briefing meetings; or conducting privilege review ahead of disclosure.
